Message from The Mayor, Wayne Brown
“In recent years Kerikeri has consistently recorded the fastest level of growth of any town north of Auckland and is among the top five growth areas in New Zealand. With an active Council policy to encourage economic growth, Kerikeri is extremely well positioned for business development and investment. Coupled with an enviable climate, a lush landscape, a rich tapestry of people and an acknowledged focus on educational excellence, it’s also a great place to live, play and holiday.
Kerikeri’s sub-climate has created a history of horticulture. Some of the first vineyards in New Zealand were located in Northland and Kerikeri produces award winning wines. The town is rich in history with two of New Zealand’s oldest buildings located in the Kerikeri basin, and is the Far North’s art and entertainment capital. Kerikeri Domain features a significant public sculpture, designed by internationally acclaimed local sculptor Chris Booth, and The Centre theatre and auditorium attracts national and international shows which are the envy of much larger city centres.
Home to some of New Zealand’s champion sailors, Kerikeri has much to offer in the way of outdoor activities – forest and coastal walks, golf courses (including Kauri Cliffs close by, which has been named amongst the top 50 golf courses in the world), lakes, waterfalls, and an internationally-renowned recreational maritime playground – it all contributes to the diversity of our lifestyle.
I trust this will encourage you to consider a lifestyle change and look to live, work and invest in Kerikeri. If just visiting, enjoy your stay and experience our famous hospitality as you wend your way around the many attractions that contribute to Kerikeri’s developing reputation as an outstanding holiday destination”.

Mayor of the Far North District Council
