Benefits of Membership of the Kerikeri District Business Association

The Kerikeri District Business Association represents local business people with the primary aim of creating an environment for businesses to prosper and grow. In addition the Association works to assist and promote businesses in Kerikeri through representation and a program of activities that are designed to bring business to the district.

At present the KKDBA has approximately 220 members.

A Guide to the Kerikeri District Business Association
Membership is open to all businesses in the district and a yearly membership allows access to all of the benefits that such a network provides and supports the efforts of the volunteer committee to promote business growth and well being in the district.
Alongside organising and executing high profile events, The Committee actively represents members in relevant forums both within and outside our community.
The Kerikeri District Business Association liaises with and lobbies the Far North District Council and other bodies to highlight the specific issues that relate to Kerikeri with respect to growth and development of the local commercial environment.
The association also promotes initiatives and activities that put Kerikeri on the map and takes every opportunity to promote the district as a potential location to visit, live and invest as well as to improve and develop conditions for those residents and businesses already located here.

The Kerikeri District Business Association holds monthly meetings which provide a forum where members can express views on any issues that members feel are affecting their businesses or the business community.
Our hugely popular “After 5” Networking Evenings held regularly throughout the year provide an opportunity for members to profile and promote their business and share ideas. With canapés and wine to boot it’s a valuable time to relax and catch up with fellow members.

Our Upgraded Website – kerikeri.co/ – Members can feature their businesses on their own webpage, which can be linked direct to their website (if they have one). This is a professional site, designed by Media Moguls right here in Kerikeri which provides an opportunity for events, promotions and news affecting the town to be promoted. Go here for details on submitting content for your business.

A Monthly Newsletter provides up-to-date information about current events and issues affecting the town, and/or matters which have been discussed within committee. This is emailed to members, and delivered to those who don’t use email.

Members are offered the Promotional Opportunity of discounted rates to use the banner in the main street to promote their business, the busiest street in Kerikeri for maximum visibility.

We have Radio advertising contracts with both radio networks, The Radio Network and Mediaworks, which means that our members are offered extremely discounted advertising rates.
We promote Kerikeri by way of the Kerikeri Jingle which we had composed by The Radio Network. Members may use this Jingle in their radio ads for extra recognition appeal.

Training Workshops and business seminars are organised from time to time,
often in conjunction with other business organizations such as Biz North, Enterprise Northland and the Northland Chamber of Commerce. These are either free or at reduced rates for members.

We support local events: Members can put forward events they’d like the KKDBA to help organize, especially if they help the KKDBA and promote the town. Notable successes have been the Red Carpet Oscars, Kororipo Festival.

We have good relationships with both the Eastern Ward Community Board and Far North District Council.

The Kerikeri District Business Association organises events to both build on community spirit and to promote Kerikeri such as The Half Marathon Street Party and the Ocean & Orchard Wine and Food Festival.

We support other organisations – We have a representative on both Vision Kerikeri and The Domain Trust. We also support Lions with a donation to assist with the Christmas Parade and have donated to the Red Cross Earthquake Appeal from proceeds from the Ocean & Orchard event.

We work closely with Destination Northland, and have a representative on the Tourism and Development Group, for which we host an annual meeting.

The Kerikeri District Business Association has worked with different groups to ensure that Kerikeri is hosting three great events during the Rugby World Cup period. One is the Tongan Church Service and Umu, welcoming the Tongan Rugby team and their supporters. This is open to the public.
The second event is the Little Vineyards of Kerikeri wine and food festival being hosted by The Fat Pig Vineyard, and the third is the Sweet As Music Festival being held down at the Stone Store Basin/Pear Tree area.

How do I become a member?
Members are welcome and are encouraged to attend committee meetings at 6pm on the second Tuesday of each month at The Pear Tree Restaurant.
At the beginning of every meeting time is allocated for guest members to speak, so you are guaranteed to have your say and be informed about planned activities and projects as well as contribute to the future plans of the Association. A little notice of attendance is always appreciated so please let one of the committee members know if you wish to attend.

Our membership year runs from July through to June and applications for membership are welcome at any time. Contact us using the form below, or through members of the committee for more information.

Our annual AGM was held in August, download the Presidents Report here.
