Bay of Islands Farmers Market – Kerikeri

A Farmers’ Market is a place where you can buy fresh food, grown or produced within a defined local region, direct from the grower or producer.
Kerikeri has buzzed every Sunday morning since the Bay of Islands Farmers’ Market began in August 2004, making it one of the longer-established Farmers’ Markets in the country. Crowds flock to the market each week, year round, rain or shine, from regular shoppers keen to fill their bags and baskets with fresh fruit and vegetables for the week ahead, to friends catching up for coffee and a breakfast snack. Visitors come to experience the flavours of Northland and to buy mementos and gifts. Others just like to soak up the sights and smells and enjoy the live music.
With Northland’s favourable growing climate and endless array of talented artisan producers, shoppers are spoilt for choice – from weekly staples, to exotic treats and temptations, there’s something for everyone.
In response to both consumer and stallholder demand, a second market began trading in nearby Paihia just before Christmas 2009. This has also proven very popular with visitors and locals alike.

Christmas Twilight Market
Wednesday 22 December 4pm – 7.30pm The Business Assoc. has invited retailers to open late that night also.

The following market is on Monday 27 December, rather than the Sunday (Boxing Day), so that our guys and gals don’t have to work on Christmas Day to prepare.
