Kerikeri Rotary Garden Safari
Who would have thought in 1988, that the Kerikeri Rotary Garden Safari would still be going strong 23 years later?
The 23rd annual Garden Safari was held on the weekend of the 30th October and 31st October 2010 in the wonderful town of Kerikeri, voted in 2000 by North and South Magazine as New Zealand’s Top Small Town.
My name is Vicki Douglas and I am this year’s Chairman of the organising committee for this event. Organisation starts early in the year and a committed group of Kerikeri Rotarians work hard to make this event bigger and better every year. Proceeds will go towards helping us to meet the goals of our mission statement: “to identify and meet, through service, the needs of our local community and those of other international communities and to build ever-expanding ties of fellowhip”. Generous sponsorship adds to the collective benefit for many charities.
This year, we again showcase up to twenty superb gardens in and around the Kerikeri area. Two popular repeats, Palmco and Rolands Wood, have been included to allow return gardeners the opportunity to see the progress and changes made within the past year. Watch the “latest news” column as we progressively showcase some of the wonderful gardens open for the 2010 Safari.
We would not have such great success without the generous support of our sponsors and the garden owners and the wonderful enthusiasm of our garden visitors. So buy your tickets now and make the last weekend of October a weekend to remember in the Bay of Islands. Tickets cost just $20.00 for the whole weekend.
