Bay of Islands Veterinary Service has been providing top quality veterinary care to the animals of the beautiful Bay of Islands for over 40 years. We have five clinics located in Paihia, Kawakawa, Kaikohe, Kerikeri and Waipapa.
The Bay of Islands Coastguard was first started early on in 1997 initially using privately owned vessels and skippers willing to donate their time and vessels to the Coastguard cause. The unit still has 3 such vessels available to assist with rescues and training.

The Far North District Council came into being on 1st November 1989 as a result of the legislated amalgamation of the Bay of Islands County Council, Hokianga County Council, Whangaroa County Council, Mangonui County Council, Kaikohe Borough Council and the Kaitaia Borough Council.
